Another Loyal Mazda Bongo Customer, Another Example of Aftercare That Goes Further

This Mazda Bongo returned to us for its annual inspection and free MOT, which had been included in the original aftersales package. The van was now six months out of warranty, but that didn’t change our approach. The customer had trusted us with their Bongo, and we were going to honour that trust.
Spotting the Problem Early
During the inspection, we noticed that one of the rear wheel arches had started to bubble with rust. It wasn’t yet severe, but we knew it wouldn’t stay that way for long. This is the kind of issue that, if ignored, can lead to expensive welding or bodywork later down the line. So, rather than patch it up or cover it with filler, like many garages might, we made the decision to do it properly.
Cutting It Out and Starting Fresh
We began by rubbing down the affected area to assess the true extent of the corrosion. Once we confirmed that the bubbling was more than just surface-level, we cut out the entire section and replaced it with a brand-new wheel arch panel. This method takes more time and care, but it ensures that rust doesn’t return, and gives the Bongo a much longer life on the road.
To finish it off, we repainted the entire side of the vehicle, not just where the arch had been repaired, but also to address a couple of minor scratches spotted during the process. The end result was a clean, consistent finish that blended seamlessly with the rest of the van.
Underseal Protection and Peace of Mind
With the bodywork complete, we moved underneath and gave the entire chassis a fresh underseal treatment. This provides essential protection from the elements, helping prevent rust from forming elsewhere and making sure the work we’ve done stays protected for years to come.
Free of Charge, Because Our Warranty Means Something
The best part? Every bit of this work was done free of charge. Despite the van being outside its official warranty window, we honoured our aftercare promise in full. For us, it’s not just about paperwork, it’s about doing right by the people who trust us to build and maintain their Mazda Bongos.
