Welding, respray, timing belt, and comfort upgrades bring this Mazda Bongo back to her best
Some vans are more than just vehicles. They become part of the family. Belle, a well-loved Mazda Bongo, came to us needing serious care to keep her safe, stylish, and road-ready for years to come. Her owner wanted more than a quick fix. Belle deserved a proper restoration, with attention to every detail.

A New Heartbeat for Belle
We started where it matters most, under the bonnet. Belle’s timing belt and water pump were due for replacement, so we fitted a full new kit and completed a coolant flush and refill. This crucial work ensures Belle’s engine stays protected and reliable for many more adventures.
Welding and Structural Repairs Done Right
Rust had affected some of Belle’s most important structural areas. We carried out welding repairs to the offside rear crossmember corner and rear chassis leg, along with major restoration of the nearside rear chassis leg.
Every repair was done with care, cutting out the rot and rebuilding the structure from clean, solid metal. Belle now has the strength and safety she needs underneath.
Sealed and Protected with Underseal
Once the welding was complete, we gave Belle a full underbody rub down and underseal. This process protects the entire underside from future corrosion. Suspension components were also prepared and sealed to ensure lasting performance through all weather conditions.
A Fresh Look with a Lower Half Respray
Belle’s bodywork had begun to show its age, particularly around the front wings, which were starting to deteriorate. We carried out professional repairs and finished it off with a lower half respray, including the front bumper and grille.
The result is clean and sharp. Belle now looks refreshed while still keeping her original charm.
Warmth, Safety, and Electrical Upgrades
We installed an 8KW diesel night heater to ensure Belle stays warm during colder nights. This powerful unit provides reliable heating that makes overnight trips far more comfortable.
While checking the electrics, we found dangerous wiring and a poorly placed fuse box. We safely relocated and rewired the area, removing the risk completely. We also added a new 12v rear light, repaired the cigarette lighter socket, and fitted a new fan heater blower motor to keep warm air flowing through the van.
Belle is Back and Better Than Ever
By the time she left our workshop, Belle was fully restored. She received key mechanical upgrades, major chassis work, protective underseal, cosmetic improvements, and interior enhancements. She is now stronger, safer, and more comfortable than ever before.
