A freshly imported Mazda Bongo 2.0 petrol campervan, built from the ground up by Mazda Bongo Auto Centre.
With 121,000 kilometres on the clock, approximately 75,200 miles, this Bongo arrived from Japan only a few months ago as a high-grade base vehicle. It has an immaculate chassis that has never been welded and was free from corrosion at inspection, giving us the right starting point for a complete custom build.
The finished van combines a brand-new pop top, our signature slimline conversion, extensive mechanical preparation, and a three-stage Tesla Pearl White flip finish that comes alive in the sunlight.
The best custom builds begin with the right foundation.
This Mazda Bongo came to us fresh from Japan with a particularly clean, high-grade chassis. It had never required welding and was in excellent condition underneath, making it an ideal candidate for a full campervan conversion and bespoke finish.
However, Japanese imports are not normally protected underneath in the same way a Bongo needs to be for UK roads. Therefore, even with such a clean starting point, we prepared and treated the underside with our own specialist underseal blend.
This gives the chassis a clean, protected finish and helps preserve its excellent condition for the future.
Before the conversion and cosmetic work were completed, the van received thorough mechanical preparation.
We fitted a new timing belt kit, carried out an engine service, gearbox service and differential service, and fitted new brake pads. The cooling system was also inspected, with a new thermostat and new temperature sensors fitted as part of the work.
These are important jobs to complete before a Bongo begins its next chapter. The aim is not simply to create a van that looks impressive, but to prepare one that is ready to be used and enjoyed properly.
A brand-new pop top roof and tent were fitted, complete with fly-screened ventilation panels.
The roof provides valuable extra headroom when parked up, while also creating an upper sleeping area for two people. It is fitted with our signature lift-up roof bed on struts, rather than roof boards, making it easier to raise and lower when using the van.
This gives the campervan greater flexibility for weekends away, longer holidays and travelling with family or friends.
Inside, this Bongo has been fitted with one of our signature slimline side conversions.
The conversion has been designed to provide the key features needed for comfortable touring while keeping the main cabin practical and open. It includes:
LED lighting has also been fitted beneath the roof lockers and under the conversion pod. This creates useful low-level lighting for evenings away and gives the interior a warm, modern feel after dark.
The seating throughout has been retrimmed in black upholstery with grey honeycomb stitching and grey piping.
A passenger swivel seat allows the front cabin to become part of the living space when parked up, helping the Bongo feel more social and spacious. The rear plastics and door cards have also been finished in anthracite stretch material, giving the interior a warmer, cleaner and more cohesive appearance.
It is the combination of these details that makes the cabin feel like a complete conversion rather than simply a van with equipment added.

A solar panel supports the leisure setup for off-grid camping, while the diesel night heater helps keep the interior warm during colder evenings and trips outside the summer season.

Together, these upgrades make the Bongo easier to live with, whether it is being used for daily driving, a weekend at the coast or a longer trip away.
The whole van has been finished in a custom three-stage Tesla Pearl White paint finish, complete with a flip pearl effect that changes in the sunlight.
The roof and mirrors have been finished in black, while the grilles have been colour coded to tie the exterior together. Black badges and new Mazda decals complete the look.
The finished result is crisp, modern and unmistakably individual, while still retaining the practical shape and character that make a Mazda Bongo such a versatile campervan.
A set of 18-inch alloy wheels has been refurbished in gloss black to complement the black roof, mirrors and badges.
The darker wheel finish gives the van a more purposeful stance and works perfectly with the Tesla Pearl White bodywork. It is a small detail that makes a major difference to the finished appearance.
