Mazda Bongo import Benefitting From A Silver Restoration Package Built Around One Customers Dream

A Truly Bespoke Mazda Bongo | Petrol Teal & Silver Campervan Conversion

Every Mazda Bongo we build has its own story, and this stunning 1998 Mazda Bongo 2.5 diesel is another fantastic example of what can be achieved when a customer has a vision and trusts Mazda Bongo Auto Centre to bring it to life.

Our customer wanted something special. A beautifully presented Mazda Bongo campervan that combined the charm of the original Japanese vehicle with modern campervan comforts, a distinctive colour scheme and a completely personalised interior.

Rather than settling for an existing campervan, they chose to have their dream Bongo professionally built by our team.

The starting point was an exceptional Grade 4.5 Japanese import with just 58,000 miles, providing the ideal foundation for a complete transformation.

Benefiting from our Silver Package, a striking Petrol Teal and Silver exterior, bespoke blue interior detailing and our signature slimline campervan conversion, the finished vehicle is a wonderful example of a Mazda Bongo built around its owner’s individual requirements.

Finding the Perfect Mazda Bongo in Japan

Every exceptional campervan conversion starts with finding the right vehicle.

For this project, we sourced a 1998 Mazda Bongo 2.5 diesel directly from Japan.

With an impressive Grade 4.5 auction rating and just 58,000 miles on the clock, this was an excellent example of a well-preserved Japanese import.

Finding a Mazda Bongo in such good original condition is increasingly important, particularly when planning a bespoke conversion.

Our customer wanted a vehicle that would not only look fantastic but also provide a practical base for years of adventures.

This particular Bongo already benefited from a pop-top roof, providing additional headroom and sleeping accommodation without the need for a new roof installation.

Once the vehicle arrived at Mazda Bongo Auto Centre in Saltney, Chester, our team began preparing it for its complete transformation.

A Stunning Petrol Teal and Silver Exterior

One of the most distinctive features of this particular Mazda Bongo is its beautiful two-tone paintwork.

Our customer chose to retain the original factory Silver upper body while transforming the lower half in a striking Petrol Teal finish.

The combination works beautifully, giving the Bongo a fresh, modern appearance while retaining its unmistakable Japanese styling.

To complement the new colour scheme, we also carried out several additional exterior improvements.

These included:

  • Bespoke Petrol Teal lower body paintwork
  • Original factory Silver upper body
  • New Mazda decals
  • Colour-coded front grilles
  • Colour-coded rear spoiler
  • Colour-coded wing mirrors
  • Refurbished 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Gloss Black alloy wheel finish

The newly refurbished 18-inch alloy wheels provide a particularly striking contrast against the Petrol Teal bodywork.

Finished in Gloss Black, they give the van a sportier appearance while complementing the carefully selected exterior colours.

Every detail was chosen to create a campervan that stands out without losing the classic character of the Mazda Bongo.

Our Silver Package | Preparing the Bongo for Its Next Adventure

Before completing the campervan conversion, this Mazda Bongo benefited from our Silver Package, designed to improve the vehicle’s overall condition and presentation.

At Mazda Bongo Auto Centre, we believe that creating a beautiful campervan starts with the vehicle underneath.

A bespoke conversion should be more than attractive paintwork and modern furniture. It should begin with a carefully selected vehicle that has been professionally prepared before being handed over to its new owner.

Our Silver Package formed an important part of this transformation, helping prepare the freshly imported Bongo for its new life on UK roads.

Combined with the extensive exterior and interior work, this created a fantastic foundation for the finished campervan.

A Completely Transformed Interior With Bespoke Blue Detailing

The transformation did not stop with the exterior.

Our customer wanted an interior that would perfectly complement the Petrol Teal paintwork while creating a modern, comfortable and practical living space.

To achieve this, our team removed the original interior and began rebuilding the cabin around our signature slimline campervan conversion.

However, what makes this particular interior stand out is the attention given to the finishing details.

Rather than choosing a standard upholstery design, the customer opted for bespoke blue stitching, blue piping and matching blue flooring, creating a coordinated colour scheme throughout the living space.

The seating features attractive honeycomb stitching, carefully finished with blue detailing that adds a subtle but distinctive contrast.

The blue edging and stitching continue the colour theme through the cabin, while the specially selected blue flooring ties everything together.

These finishing touches give the interior a genuinely personalised appearance, creating a campervan that feels individual to its owner.

It is a perfect example of how small design choices can completely transform the look and feel of a Mazda Bongo campervan.

Our Signature Slimline Side Conversion

At the heart of this bespoke campervan is our popular Mazda Bongo Auto Centre slimline side conversion.

Designed and installed by our experienced team, this layout provides an excellent balance between comfortable living space, practical storage and essential campervan facilities.

The conversion includes:

  • Our exclusive ultra-wide rock-and-roll bed
  • Twin-burner gas hob
  • Sink with tap and water system
  • Fresh water storage
  • Slimline kitchen furniture
  • Multiple storage compartments
  • Roof storage locker
  • Bespoke blue flooring
  • LED lighting throughout
  • Under-cabinet LED lighting
  • Reading lights
  • Twin rear USB charging points
  • Additional front USB charging points
  • 240V electric hook-up
  • Interior power sockets

Our exclusive ultra-wide rock-and-roll bed is one of the standout features of the conversion.

Designed and built in-house by Mazda Bongo Auto Centre, it provides generous sleeping space while maintaining a practical seating arrangement during the day.

For this particular build, the bed upholstery was finished with blue honeycomb stitching and matching blue piping, ensuring it complemented the customer’s chosen colour scheme.

The slimline furniture layout also helps retain valuable floor space, making the camper feel open and comfortable.

Whether preparing breakfast before a day exploring or relaxing inside after a long journey, the conversion has been designed around everyday practicality.

Designed for Comfort With a Personal Touch

Creating a bespoke Mazda Bongo is about much more than fitting a kitchen and bed.

The interior needs to feel comfortable, welcoming and practical, whether the owners are spending a single night away or enjoying a longer holiday.

For this build, the original interior was removed and replaced with a carefully planned campervan layout.

The specification includes:

  • Passenger swivel seat
  • Bespoke honeycomb stitched upholstery
  • Contrasting blue stitching
  • Matching blue seat piping and edging
  • Coordinated blue flooring
  • Ultra-wide rear seating and sleeping arrangement
  • Roof storage solutions
  • Modern interior lighting
  • Practical storage compartments
  • USB charging facilities

The passenger swivel seat allows the front cabin to become part of the living area when parked, creating a more sociable space.

The custom blue stitching and piping add a particularly smart finishing touch, giving the seating a contemporary appearance.

Combined with the matching blue flooring, the interior feels carefully coordinated rather than simply fitted with standard campervan furniture.

Every feature has been chosen to ensure the campervan looks just as impressive inside as it does from the outside.

The Practicality of an Existing Pop-Top Roof

One of the advantages of this particular Japanese import was that it already came equipped with a pop-top roof.

This provided an excellent starting point for the campervan conversion, offering valuable additional headroom when parked.

The roof also provides extra sleeping accommodation, making the Bongo a practical choice for couples and families.

Combined with our ultra-wide rock-and-roll bed below, the existing pop-top creates a versatile campervan layout suitable for weekends away and longer touring holidays.

By retaining the roof already fitted to the vehicle, we were able to concentrate on creating the customer’s bespoke interior and exterior transformation.

Ready for Off-Grid Adventures

Modern campervan ownership is all about freedom.

Whether staying on a campsite or enjoying a more secluded location, having access to lighting, power and heating can make a huge difference.

This Mazda Bongo follows our comprehensive campervan conversion specification, incorporating:

  • Leisure battery system
  • Split charging system
  • 240V electric hook-up
  • Roof-mounted solar panel
  • 8kW diesel night heater
  • LED interior lighting
  • Multiple USB charging points

The solar panel helps support the leisure battery when camping away from an electrical hook-up.

The diesel night heater provides additional comfort during colder evenings, making the campervan suitable for adventures beyond the summer months.

Together, these features create a practical touring setup designed to make travelling more enjoyable throughout the year.

Modern Multimedia and Technology

Although this Mazda Bongo began life in 1998, the finished campervan offers the convenience of modern technology.

The multimedia system includes:

  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Android Auto
  • Reversing camera
  • USB charging points

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide convenient access to navigation, music and compatible mobile applications while travelling.

The reversing camera is particularly useful when parking or manoeuvring on campsites.

These modern features complement the traditional Mazda Bongo driving experience while making everyday journeys more convenient.
