We recently had the pleasure of working on a Mazda Bongo for a good friend who was planning an epic road trip to Switzerland. Before embarking on this adventure, they wanted to ensure their beloved van was in top shape. They booked it in for a comprehensive service and thorough inspection, but as we dug deeper, it became clear that this van deserved more than just a routine check-up—it was time for a full transformation.
Addressing the Tired Bodywork
The van had seen its fair share of adventures, and the years were beginning to show. The bodywork had grown tired and shabby, with corroded sills and wheel arches detracting from its charm. Before the rust had a chance to spread any further, our friend made the wise decision to tackle the issue head-on.
We started by cutting out and replacing the outer wheel arches, which instantly revitalized the van’s appearance. This colour combination brought out the van’s personality, making it stand out while still honouring its roots.
Finishing Touches: A New Lease on Life
To complete the transformation, we renewed all the numbers and trims, added new decals, and refurbished the wheels, topped off with brand-new wheel nuts. The underbody received a full underseal to protect against future corrosion, and we didn’t stop there—we smoothed down and repainted all the suspension components to ensure the van looked as good underneath as it did on the outside.
The final result was nothing short of a work of art. Our friend was thrilled with the outcome, and their Bongo was not only ready for their Swiss adventure but also set to turn heads wherever they went.
